Rocket League: A Different Kind of Game

By Ben Hoaglund

Rocket League is a very original fun packed physics based game. Where you can play soccer with rocket-powered battle-cars. A psyonix game released on July 4th 2015 for Microsoft Windows and Playstation 4, later being released to Xbox One, macOS, Linux, and Nintendo Switch.

The game features you the player and up to 2 teammates facing other players in either casual games or competitive. The game consists of 9 casual game modes (some of which aren’t even soccer based) and 4 competitive game modes in which you will start at Bronze and make your way up the ranks.

Having over 500 hours of experience in the game I have a lot of knowledge on how the game feels to play. I personally love the game, and am currently trying to get into diamond in doubles. Though the game by itself is very fun, the unique experience this game gives you when playing with friends is amazing. There is just a feel of joy that this game gives when you win a match or score an amazing goal that no other game can give you. As me and my partner would agree some of the only down sides to this game are if you are simply not into the idea, but even so with a purchase of less than twenty dollars you can pick up this game in a heartbeat and enjoy your money’s worth.

Rating (Out of 10)

After hundreds of hours of playing the game I still feel rewarded when simply scoring a goal or winning a match. The whole experience is based on what you as a player want to get out of the game. If you want to be a pro you can be a pro. Or if you are just a casual player you will still have plenty of fun. This game truly delivers when it comes to content.

I would certainly advise buying this game if you found the idea of Rocket League even just a little interesting, and with a price of just $20 this game is a must for any gamer.

I rate it 8/10
